A young child is labeled as “Dull-witted” by his teachers. The child spends much of his time either drawing pictures or looking at the clouds. The child believes that he just needs to be "fixed" and that he will then be able to do all the things an average student can. The movie is about how a boy who has dyslexia learns to believe in himself and develops an appreciation for life despite his many obstacles - all due to one teacher's relentless patience and determination. The film received the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival as well as several international awards. It was screened as part of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and won the Children's Jury Award for Best Feature - Drama. "Taare Zameen Par" also won many national and international awards, though not garnering any major awards at the award ceremonies.
